My GAME Plan, continued

For my game plan, I want to keep better contact with parents via my school website and I want to produce a powerpoint presentation explaining how to act in a restaurant. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot to report. With it being the end of the year, it just hasn't been a priority at the moment. I would like to do more on this when my schedule is less complex. Over the summer I plan to collect pictures or video for my powerpoint presentation and set a schedule for working on my website (such as 1:30-2:30 on Thursdays). I think that if I do this, I will be more successful at completing my plan.

  1. Katie,

I think it is important to set aside time each week when you have the free time to work on your website. Do you plan on surveying the parents of your students to see what information they would like to see on the class website? This is something I plan on doing for my website. By starting to work on your presentations, it also gives you the necessary time to make it the way you want it and not rush to complete it because it is the end of the school year. Good luck!

  2. Grade 2 Teacher,
Thanks for the help. I do want to survey my parents. I agree that this will help in giving them the information they need.

  3. Katie,
I think that it is a good idea to set aside time to work on your website. It has been nice because my school district has set up help days where we can meet with the technology department and work on our website with their help. I put a lot on my website and pretty much everything on there is there for good and doesn't need to be changed (as long as I don't change grade levels). The only thing that I need to work on is the write section of my website and I plan on doing that this summer during one of the scheduled work days. Have a look at my website if you want any ideas. My parents have told me they love having the kids spelling words that way if they forget their list they can just look on the website if they have access to it. http://agi.seaford.k12.de.us/sites/sstephens/default.aspx

    I hope this helps!

  4. Katie,
You discussed communicating with parents via your web site. Is this web site hosted through the school or is it one you have set up? Our district uses School Fusion, which allows us to set up a web page for our classroom. This has proven to be a great communication tool between myself and parents. I have often wondered how hard it would be to set up a web page other than what the district offers.
